Applying AI to Identify Commercial Opportunities and Build Practical Workflows

Executive Summary Dixon AI delivered a GEFIE 2 AI Value Discovery Day for Physiquipe in Manchester, following their earlier AI Accelerator Day. The session focused on turning existing AI literacy into practical application across the business. Participants worked hands-on with prompts, bots and structured workflows, identifying clear use cases aligned to their commercial objectives. The outcome was a set of defined AI project ideas, particularly in customer targeting and marketing content creation, along with a step forward in confidence and capability. This stage aligns with the transition from literacy to application within the AI Transformation Playbook, where organisations begin to convert understanding into practical value.

Business Context Physiquipe had already completed earlier stages of the transformation journey, with participants demonstrating familiarity with structured prompting and early bot development. This positioned the organisation within Stage 4 of the AI Transformation Playbook, where the focus shifts from learning tools to applying them within real workflows. The session built on that foundation, allowing the group to move at pace and focus on identifying where AI could support commercial growth and operational efficiency.

Objectives of the Event The session was designed to:

  • Apply existing AI knowledge to real business challenges

  • Develop reusable prompts and bot-based workflows

  • Identify high-value AI use cases across the organisation

  • Begin shaping practical projects for further development

  • Prepare participants for progression into the GEFIE 3 Hackathon stage

What Happened During the Event The workshop was delivered in a small group format, allowing for detailed discussion and direct engagement with each participant. This enabled a deeper exploration of individual roles, processes and opportunities.

Participants worked through:

  • Advanced prompt structuring and reuse

  • Development of bots and agent-based workflows

  • Exploration of agent skills and how tools can connect

  • Mapping of organisational processes to identify where AI could be applied

Because the group had already engaged with earlier training, the session moved quickly into applied work. Rather than introducing concepts, the focus was on building, testing and refining outputs within real business contexts./

The session also included collaborative discussions to map the organisation’s structure and identify where AI could support future activity, particularly in commercial and marketing functions.

Key Insights and Takeaways A few patterns emerged clearly during the session.

First, prior literacy significantly increases the pace of application. Because participants were already using structured prompts and experimenting with bots, the session could focus on reinforcement and refinement rather than introduction.

Second, small-group delivery enables deeper value discovery. The format allowed for detailed conversations about workflows, which surfaced more specific and relevant use cases than would typically emerge in a larger setting.

Third, commercial use cases tend to emerge early. In this session, opportunities around identifying ideal customers, understanding markets and improving outreach were quickly identified as areas where AI could deliver practical value.

Finally, the transition from individual experimentation to shared discussion is critical. As participants compared approaches and ideas, the quality and clarity of potential projects improved.

Impact By the end of the session, Physiquipe had:

  • A clearer view of where AI could support customer acquisition and marketing activity

  • Early-stage definitions of multiple AI projects to be developed further

  • Increased confidence in building and refining prompts and bots

  • A shared understanding of how AI can be applied within their specific business context

The group moved from exploring tools to actively shaping how those tools could be used within their organisation.

What Happens Next The next step is progression into the GEFIE 3 AI Hackathon, where the identified project ideas will be developed into working prototypes. This will involve:

  • Forming small teams around prioritised use cases

  • Building and testing solutions in a structured environment

  • Iterating towards practical outputs that can be deployed or scaled

This stage continues the movement through the AI Transformation Playbook, shifting from individual application to collaborative innovation.

Closing Insight The session demonstrated how quickly progress can be made when foundational literacy is already in place. Once individuals understand the tools, the focus naturally shifts to applying them in ways that matter to the business. The role of the workshop is not to introduce AI, but to create the conditions where people can connect it directly to their work.

AI transformation in practice begins when teams move from understanding tools to applying them within real workflows and commercial objectives.
